Anyone who follows Iowa politics knows the name Steve Deace. He's a radio host on WHO Newsradio 1040 and Iowa's version of Glenn Beck. A self-described "Jesus Freak," Deace is an unabashed bigot who has publically defended every lie and half-truth against homosexuals. He has even been covered by Rachel Maddow after he defended Dr. George Tiller's murder. He, quite literally, encompasses everything that UNIFI opposes. It's no surprise then Deace has finally discovered us.
In a post earlier this month, Deace linked to a Blasphemy Friday post in his WHO blog. Above the "Punx Against Christ" flier we posted, Deace writes:
They say a picture says a thousand words. If that's the case then the picture below is certainly the most disturbing quote of the week we've ever posted on this blog. If you're wondering who to "thank" for such debauchery, you can send your regards to the "UNI Freethinkers" at Northern Iowa University. So much for sleepy Cedar Falls representing salt of the earth Iowa.
I'm not quite sure why we're credited with creating a flier in Swedish. I only wish UNIFI members had the artistic and foreign language skills to pull something like that off. Oh well; expressing the truth has never been one of Deace's strong points.
